There is no question that the continuous mobile evolution is upon us. I call it a continuous mobile evolution as we have never seen such a large paradigm shift that continues to evolve seemingly overnight. Each day I read about a new technology or innovation that could dramatically help change the overall mobile landscape.
More IT organizations are bypassing the desktop when building new applications, especially for external customers.[CIO Magazine]
While I am not going to jump right out and say that your organization should totally bypass the desktop environment, I do work with each of our clients on changing their perspective. Rather than having a small % of their budgets allocated to mobile, we suggest starting with mobile in mind, then working backwards. Essentially, make the desktop environment part of your mobile strategy, but enable it with Mobile Web technologies that can easily be tied into each of mobile application environment. By starting with mobile in mind, our clients are able to more rapidly deploy comprehensive solutions that are aimed at mobile, but also work for the classic desktop environment.
